This will be the tenth anniversary Doesburg English Weekend, and will take place in the Grote or Martinikerk. The programme will take the form of a choral evensong, which will be sung in the church at 4.30pm on Sunday afternoon. The music will include:

Prevent Us, O Lord by William Byrd (c.1539-1623)

O Praise God In His Holiness by Charles Macpherson (1865-1941)

Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in A by Charles Villiers Stanford (1852-1924)

Preces and Responses by William Smith of Durham (1645-1692)

Psalm and Hymns

JEREMY JACKMAN'S musical education began as a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral in London, and continued at the Royal College of Music and Hull University. He sang in the choir of Westminster Cathedral under Stephen Cleobury and then was for ten years a member of The King's Singers. He is now a composer, arranger and editor, and has conducted at venues around the world, including London's Royal Albert Hall and Royal Festival Hall. He is musical director of the English Baroque Choir.

The Doesburg weekend will be held from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 October. You will be sent the music in advance, together with information about local accommodation and details of a rehearsal CD with each voice part picked out. Unless you are a competent sight-reader, it is essential that you study your part before the event: there will be no time to start learning the notes during the weekend. The fee of Euro100 or £68, which includes the music, teas, coffees, and soup (but please bring your own sandwiches) at lunchtime on both days, should be paid on registration. Payments in the Netherlands may be made to my Fortis Bank account No 83.52.00.205. Bed and breakfast accommodation can be found through the agency VVV on +31 313 479088. The nearest station is Dieren.
